Yenbu Foundation provides selective scholarships to higher education students of Turkish descent who face socio-economic challenges. Eligibility is based on financial need, academic performance, and a commitment to personal growth and community involvement. Scholarship amounts vary depending on tuition costs, references, and demonstrated resilience.
We encourage all applicants to carefully review the eligibility criteria before applying. Recipients are expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress toward their degree, as failure to do so may affect future funding eligibility.
Eligibility
The applicant must:
Be a student of Turkish descent in higher education experiencing socio-economic challenges.
Be present in the U.S. during their educational period.
Be currently enrolled or have received acceptance for enrollment in an accredited U.S. higher education institution.
Have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Exceptions may only be considered under extremely limited circumstances where a lower GPA exists; however, the student must provide an explanation in their personal statement.
Required Documents:
A resume.
A personal statement detailing the applicant's accomplishments, financial needs, and socio-economic challenges.
An admission letter from a U.S. higher education institution for students who are just beginning their college education.
A transcript from the most recent semester.
A copy of the tuition and fees costs for the academic semester the applicant intends to attend.
Contact information for two references. The references must be individuals who can speak to the applicant's character, academic accomplishments, and potential.
Instructions
Personal statement: Submit a personal statement with a minimum of 300 words, discussing financial need and including:
Your and your family's most challenging time and how you overcame it.
Your strongest personality traits validating your scholarship candidacy.
Attributes, qualities, or skills that distinguish you from other candidates.
Details of significant extracurricular or community activities and reasons for participation.
Reason for choosing your field of study.
Career aspirations.
Future dreams.
How the scholarship will aid in achieving personal goals.
Tuition document: Please send your tuition cost. This must be the webpage or document from your school's financial account that indicates the final amount you are responsible for.
Tuition amount: How much are you going to pay for this semester? Indicate the tuition amount you need to pay after subtracting any scholarships you have been awarded from your school or other sources. Exclude health insurance and other non-tuition costs.

STATEMENT OF NONDISCRIMINATION:
Scholarship recipients may be selected on the basis of criteria reasonably related to the charitable purposes of the Scholarship Fund and may benefit members of selected ethnic minorities or may be limited to a certain age group or gender. From the charitable class of individuals that could meet the established scholarship criteria, all scholarships will be awarded on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis within the meaning of Internal Revenue Code § 4945 and Treasury Regulation § 53.4945-4(b). In selecting scholarship recipients, the Foundation commits to not taking into account a candidate’s employment relationship with any person. Family members of past or present directors and/or employees of the Organization are not be eligible to receive scholarship grants, nor are any person who is a “disqualified person” with respect to the Foundation within the meaning of Internal Revenue Code § 4946(a). Typically, no employee or family member of a donor, an advisor, or a member of the Scholarship Advisory Committee, is eligible to receive scholarship grants
